Switching to a new DBMS, though almost the same I most ways, isn't always a
snap-in, because of dialect differences and such; if you've already
committed significant resource to your development, don't be so quick to the
switching-route; if your application is going to be distributed under a
non-free/proprietary license, and the expected user base isn't going to be
savvy enough to add required libraries themselves (so that you are not
targeting developers or their kind) and you feel the revenue from it could
be significant, then you might want to explore an alternative license with
the mckoi license holders.

A lot of free/open source projects follow this same route. Read the mysql
license policy for instance: http://www.mysql.com/company/legal/licensing/

Of course, if there aren't any unique features with mckoi that draw you to
it, so that the license flexibility is your main concern, then (not to
promote another product on the list) hsqldb might seem like your best
choice.
