Current Level of Write Support in the CVS

Does the latest CVS version support writing rows to existing tables.  All I
need to do is a simple "INSERT INTO blah(x,y,z) VALUES("X","Y","Z")
 
I heard there are limitations on creating the tables but this I can live
with for the moment.
 
If this is possible then you will have alleviated an enourmous headache for
me,
