You are probably right.  However, some other database writers might want to
support writing to mdb, to promote adoption of their own product.  (Similar
to Open Office supporting "save as ..." MS Word file.)

I am afraid you are right again :)   That's why I was hoping to find other
people who want to write mdb files, so we could get it to work as an open
source effort.

JNI could be an option, however I would prefer to stay independent of
particular OS and native libraries.  When building mdbtools I found I needed
glib, for instance.

We were entertaining the idea of using a Windows Server.  If the
"mdbtools4j" option proves impractical, we will probably opt for that.
