Help with wrapping a C++ method

Folks,

I'm trying to put C wrappers around the MetaKit C++ API to be able to  
use it with Common Lisp. I can't figure out how to wrap things like  
this:

   c4_RowRef GetAt(int) const;

where a copy of the object is returned as opposed to a pointer. Any  
suggestions?
