As the problem prevents mysqld from starting, I believe the severity should be changed to S2, as well. No one has answered my question, however. What is the correct procedure? Should I have opened a new bug? If not, is writing to this list the way to call attention to an addition to an old bug? Should I have been more patient? I'd like to do this in whatever way is most helpful to the developers, but I don't know what that is.
