Hello all:

I've created a new package in sourceforge's release system, called
'installer'.
This contains the installer, the configurators, and the cluster code.

The mysql-ha package (what I've been using for releases so far) now
contains *only the
code needed to run the cluster*, but installation and configuration
should be done
manually. I honestly followed the example of heartbeat and figured out
that a clustering system
is complex enough to require manual configuration.

The mysql-ha package is now beta, and has been tested on this systems:
*- FC 5
- FC 6
- CentOS 4.4
*with *MySQL* versions *4 and 5*
It should still work with version 3.23, but I won't be testing it
anytime soon.

There is a known bug with the ssh-agent, it arises if the machine
running mysql-ha suffers a hard fail and therefore the agent's sock file
isn't removed.
I already know how to fix this, but I'm pushing this for the next
release, since I wanted to keep this as simple as possible and just
focus on the restructure.

The doc/ directory includes the Installation Guide in pdf, and you can
also get it from our project's web site, also as PDF and as HTML.
If anyone reading this has a knowledge of DocBook and has some spare
time, I would like to make the documentation available in sources too,
so people can generate
whatever format they want. I use OpenOffice and odt as the original
format and export to PDF and HTML from there. Please note that I am
updating the docs every two
releases or so.

Work will now focus on getting the mysql-ha package to stable within a
reasonable timeframe (No more than two months, I hope we'll see our
first release candidate by late February),
while we continue to improve the installer package as a long term goal.

Notice that the installer package is still alpha and has been numbered
version 0.1.0. My idea was to isolate the unstable code (the
configuration scripts) from the cluster code, so people
can choose what they want to try.

The installer package includes mysql-ha, so you don't need to download
both packages if you want to try the automatic installer.

Regards
