That seems like a bug, but I haven't seen it in practice. Do you have a
more complete testcase you could file as a bug at http://bugs.mysql.com/?

Code inspection shows that setFetchSize() is a no-op unless it's set to
Integer.MIN_VALUE, or if "useCursorFetch=true" has been set on the URL
(the default is false).

MySQL doesn't have a concept of fetching rows by chunks. This is
documented in the manual for Connector/J here:
