could not able to connect to the database in vista

Hi all,
   I am using the windows vista os, and trying to deploy a ofbiz application
on it,but when i run my application it is not connecting to the database as
it says could not able to connect, but i have installed the mysql 5.0.51a
for mysql-connector-mxj-gpl-5-0-9 connector. but i am able to create a
database and execute queries on it but not able to connect from my
application, can any one give suggestions to reslove this
