Why do you say that? I use the "Linux downloads" releases (.tar.gz 
binary) and they work fine in FC3 and Mandrake 10.1. It's just 
decompress the file to some working directory and start from there.
RPM is better to manage programs, but this kind of distribution is 
simple, and to uninstall, just erase the directory.

Maybe they use the binarys I use?
