workbench svn repository

I see there's been some changes to the svn repository.  Looks like
there's a 1.0 branch and then a main trunck.  The 1.0 branch compiles
fine with the proper ./configure but the trunk has problems under
Linux.   Going forward, is the trunk the proper branch to update from
or what?  A little advice on what's happening, please.
