MySQL Workbench to MySQL server connectinos?

This is probably going to sound stupid, but, here goes...

I have MySQL Workbench 5.0.12 installed on a Windows box, but I can't seem to 
find an option to specify or connect to a MySQL server.  I have a couple of 
existing databases that I thought I would have Workbench 'pull in' and see 
how it did with their schemata.
