FYI, I've managed to disable DEP using the following procedure:

1. Run "cmd" as administrator
2. |Type the following into the command prompt: bcdedit.exe /set
{current} nx AlwaysOff|
||
|It should return "the operation completed successfully." This will
disable DEP completely when you reboot.|||
|I'm not happy about having to do this but it at least allows me to run
Workbench on my Vista PC.|
||
|Any response from Sun/MySQL about this issue?|
||
|Regards,|

I've been running Workbench for some months now happily on my PC. Last
week I rebuilt my software on my PC with exactly the same OS as before
(Vista Home Premium SP1.)

However now after re-installing Workbench (5.0.27 OSS) when I run it, it
shows the splash screen for a few seconds then crashes and Windows
helpfully informs me that it closed Workbench because of DEP.

I've tried disabling DEP for Workbench (System Settings > DEP > "Turn on
DEP for all programs and services except those I select" > Add workbench
to the exclusion list) but Windows says that Workbench needs DEP enabled
to run correctly - but then it won't run workbench with it enabled
(flawed or what?)

Is there any way I can turn this thing off and run Workbench as I used to?

Thanks,

Andy
