Well, I've made a little progress: following the instructions in Windows Help I turned OFF Data Excution Prevention for "Run a Dll as an App". When this is done, I can link all the tables in my MySQL database to MS Access using the MyODBC v.5 connector. However, when I open the tables it is disappointing: MS Access does not show the UTF-8 character set correctly. Russian text is just a line of ??????, etc. (This is the improvement over 3.51 that I specifically need.)
