ODBC Connection between mySQL and Excel under VDI

We have converted our laptops to GENY VDI. We are unable to establish ODBC connection between mySQL and Excel. Any ideas on how to install ODBC driver for mySQL in VDI space? You may know how other users dealt with this situation or are we unique. VDI allows ODBC between MS Access or SQL server but not mySQL.
