We were a bit puzzled by the address after the username at first but that appears to be the address where the connection originates??? I assume this is not something that one sets? I can only assume that the cPanel is setting things correctly in the GRANT although that appears to be the problem. We don’t have access to the root login or I would do a grant directly. What puzzles me is why it works in workbench but not in ODBC. Is there some setting in the ODBC that needs to be submitted?

Can you do some packet captures and have a look at what workbench sends
to the server? I think if you would compare the packets, you will find
the difference. Do you know how to use wireshark? https://www.wireshark.org/
