DBI::mysql

I just can't install this.

I get the following error on make test

install_driver(mysql) failed: Can't load
'/tmp/Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2219/mysql/../blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so'
for module DBD::mysql: libmysqlclient.so.14: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory at
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 229.

If I install anyway I get errors actually using something like
DBI->connect under use DBI.

MySQL-devel-4.0.21-0
MySQL-client-4.0.21-0

sob wimper and generally pull my hair out. I have mysql_config in my path
when I perl Makfile.Pl and make

like I said make test fails. 

Howmany people will have to suffer?
