DBD:mysql make test fails

I am trying to compile this on a Solaris 10 system and get the
following:

Almost looks to me like it can't find the libmysqlclient.so. I have the
correct path for this and the make works fine... Just the make test
fails.. All tests fail for this. 
Any ideas. 

I installed the mysql database package from mysql.com and removed the
two packages that came with the OS.
