Don't know if it's related to the problem I had recently related to specifying paths correctly, I had to make it like this to get it to work-- " perl Makefile.PL --cflags=-I/usr/local/mysql/include --libs="-L/usr/local/mysql/lib -lmysqlclient -lcrypt -lnsl -lm -lz -lc -lnss_files -lnss_dns -lresolv -lc -lnss_files -lnss_dns -lresolv" That seems to have resolved the issue. Apparently the default path is /usr/lib/mysql but in my system it is the above path. For the life of me I couldn't google the above solution. Now I have other issues to deal with ......
