server doesnt start

Hi,

I just installed Mysql v.4.0.21. After installation I tried to start winmysqladmin.exe.
The 'traffic light' shows red, and when I try to start the service, it says 'fails to
start the service. I have checked the online manual, but I cant find this problem
there. What could I do ?
