Hi join

You can remove your service and reinstall with another name using 

#to remove service
Mysqld --remove <old service Name>

#to install service
mysqld --install <new service name> --defaults-file="<path to your ini
file>"

You should elaborate about the error. Check the event viewer. 

my thoughts... Only one service named mysql can be run at a time.
