Hello list - I am just an amateur user but have previously set up a database using Apache on Win XP and phpmyadmin (and Mysql administrator). Re-doing after fresh install of a computer. Win XP SP2 MySQL 5.0.37 Apache 1.3 phpmyadmin 2.10.1 I have created a simple table with an auto increment ID and a text field to hold the contents of articles and two time stamp fields (one to register any edits) I am using copy paste into the "insert" box in phpmyadmin to enter details but having trouble entering longer articles. A short one went in OK but for a longer one with 45 000 characters I get the error that the text is too long. The field is set as mediumtext which I assumed would be big enough. But even if I change the field type to longtext it gives the same error. I thought that would be long enough to hold a novel! Any clues what I am doing wrong?
