Hi guys,

Please ignore my previous posting. I did a bit of research into the Oracle
Home concept and got my .sql scripts to work.

But there is still one other problem - My Java packages doesn't seem to run.
When running this:

call sys.dbms_java.loadjava('-v -r -grant PUBLIC -synonym
lib/xmlparserv2.jar')

I get this error:

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06576: not a valid function or procedure name

Get anyone please shed some light on this? Please bear with me since I am
quite an Oracle novice. Comes from a VB - SQL Server background.

Regards,
Brad.

Hi guys,

As advised, I downloaded the oracle XDK from Oracle. I also got the
Installation instructions from Metanet (The readme is of no use - only
contains a bunch of changes) -

Doc ID: Note:171658.1
Subject: How To Install and Uninstall the XDK for JAVA & PL/SQL

The first step in this document tells me to run the initxml.sql script.
I opened up this script and I just noticed that the path references are all
having forward slashes (/). Wouldn't this be a problem if I run this script
on my Windows 2000 Server Oracle installation?

Regards,
Brad.

Hi,

Yes...if you are in 8i..you need to install the XDK package from
technet...once done you may like to have a look at the dbms_xmlquery and
dbms_xmlsave packages...Lots of functionalities are there...for native xml
format storage you can store them in CLOBs...From 9i onwards still more
functionality has been integrated I hope..

Subject: [oracle] XML in Oracle

Hi All,

I need some info about Oracle's XML capabilities.
I have An installation of Oracle8i Release 8.1.7.0.0. Can Oracle store data
natively in XML format? Or can I get my query results in XML format (like
the "FOR XML" statement in SQL Server 2000).

Thanks a mill.
Brad.
