Hi,
Thank you for replying. But how do I find out what is the name of my database? Is it same as my login name like SCOTT whose password is TIGER? I tried your method with the above login name i.e. at command prompt, I typed C:\>SET ORACLE_SID=SCOTT and then when I typed EXP at command prompt, it says BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME.
Let me explain you my problem. I have 5 tables in the user SCOTT. I want to give these tables to my friend. Hence, I want to export these tables into a file, email the file(s) to my friend, and he will then import these in his database. The problem is how to export and then import, to or from a file. It doesn't matter whether all the tables (other then the required 5 tables also) are copied into the exported file or each table is to be exported indivisually. I just want to know how to go about it. I would really appreciate it very much if you could please help me in this regard.
          Thanking You,
Regards,
Prateek

C:\>SET ORACLE_SID=MYDB (where MYDB is the name of your database)
C:\>EXP

(you will probably just want to export one user, don't specify any tables to
copy all of them)

do same on your friends PC but use run

C:\>SET ORACLE_SID=MYDB (where MYDB is the name of their database)
C:\>IMP
