I was going to write about the latest GA version being painfully slow when I have a number of tabs and grids open but as I was looking, I realized that Firefox was consuming huge amounts of resources at the time (with TOAD being a close contender). I closed Firefox and TOAD started responding normally.

Not saying this is the solution here, but it might be worth looking at. . .

I've seen pretty odd behavior over the years with things like Windows Themes, Large/Small Fonts and so forth. It's something we often have to code for. It may sound like a stretch but maybe try simplifying as much as possible - Windows Classic Theme, regular Fonts and so forth.

No, nothing atypical, just regular fairly small datagrids and column lists. No, I can't do process explorer because the computer is totally frozen. I doubt it has anything to do with Toad if no one else is having this issue. Hardware support changed my video cards because I kept getting a 'blue screen of death'...not sure this is an improvement.

Sorry.

I doubt it's the video driver. It sounds like it's entirely grid/data related, not video.

What about the number of columns in the grid - very large? When this happens can you bring up Process Explorer to see if the Toad process is spiked?

I'd probably see the humor if my computer didn't keep freezing...6 times now and only in Toad. Video driver?

This was intended as a jest, by the way, maybe it was too subtle : )

Have you tried turning on Options > General > Horizontal scroll lock protection?

Hi, I just upgraded to 11.0.0.116. I don't know if this is a Toad
problem or not... 3 times in the last 2 days, my computer has frozen
when moving a horizontal scroll bar in Toad...twice in a describe window
and once in a datagrid in the editor. Frozen like in nothing
works...mouse won't move, alt-tab and alt-ctrl-del don't work....nadda.
I have to turn my machine off and back on. It doesn't happen every time
I move the scroll bar.
