ok, so that's 100% for Enhanced. This is contrary to an internal email I got yesterday regarding that style:

> One of the worst things about TOAD is how the DEFAULT interface is so old gray and dull, dated looking and looks an old java tool before Windows95.

we catch flak all the time about Toad's interface, how it's ugly, outdated, a joke and so forth. There's been an item on our MRD for about 8 years which simply states "Improve the Toad GUI." I think it means wave a magic wand over it and make it without any warts, make it slick and shiny, remove MDI, go with ribbons. I don't know what it means. But we catch flak for it all the time. It gets a bit tiring to hear it. When we cite what we hear on the boards we're dismissed with "yes, but that's just that tiny little subset and they don't represent the whole."

I think there are a lot of outstanding directions to move this product into without having to burn our time rewriting the interface. It wouldn't work anyway, as independently as all the developers work. If they were told to write screens according to a UI designers' output they'd probably walk out the door and go someplace where they could work more freely, as they've been accustomed to.

To get that sterling kind of Apple look you have to maintain vigorous control, partitioning your team into UI Designers, coders and so forth. We don't work that way. Thus the speed, thus the warts.
