I just checked the source for 10.5 and that checkbox is there, so it should work.

After you make that grant, you’ll have to disconnect and then reconnect.  Toad only checks that privilege once in the duration of a connection.

And it won’t work unless that “If possible, include identify by values clause in 11g” checkbox is checked.

I granted select on sys.user$ to the user I am using to generate the script and still not be able to see the passoword. I may have to try with 10.6 to see if it works.

The DBA role was put in place for backwards compat with Oracle 7. It does not include what current DBA’s should want or need as it was only created for backward compat and is not recommened to be used. So saying I have DBA really means nothing. You need to create your own site specific DBA type role and decide which of the hundreds of privs it should have.

Toad 10.6 has an option to extract passwords on 11g if you have privileges.  I’m not sure offhand if the option is also on 10.5.1 but on the script dialog, go to the  “Script Options” tab, then “Users” sub-tab.  Check “If possible, include identify by values clause in 11g”.

It will be possible if you have the SELECT privilege on the sys.user$ table.
