RE: Alternate option for v$lock is DBA_LOCKS

off by default...for the simple reason you can harm other peoples locks
ask your DBA to grant SELECT on V$LOCK to username

what you want to do is to concentrate on your own session locks in other words acquire the SID FROM V$SESSION
then use your SID to reference lock objects which belong to that session

once you've identified the locks for the SID then we'll need to concentrate on locks which are blocked BLOCK!=0

      Hi,



My DBA says we must not use v$lock and
find an alternative option for it.



I found that dba_locks
is an alternate option for v$lock in Oracle.



But when i use "select
 *  from dba_locks". It throws an error message
"ORA00942 Table or View does not exists."



Could you please tell me what i am missing.



Also can u tell me what privilege i
need to give such that dba_locks can be selected for the records using
my login to the oracle DB.
