Negative/BC/BCE time

Can we get an option to display the sign for years or BC/AD  or BCE/CE 
options in time formats?

It's not often that I'm storing negative years, but when I do, it's quite 
confusing to not be able to tell the difference between 1000 BC and 1000 
AD without converting to a string.
