libpq problem on windows

Im trying to compile an app that uses libpq.lib with codewarrior 8 on a 
mac for windows. All compiles correctly until cw tries to link and i 
get a weird error. here's the error:

Error   : Bad magic signature (expected '!<arch>\n')
libpq.lib

I can use any other library and it goes through ok, but it wont work 
with the libpq. The libpq im using is the one included in the binary 
snapshot for the native win32 port.

Any ideas how to solve this?
