Information International Associates, Inc., (IIa), an award-winning
information and knowledge management firm in Oak Ridge, TN, is now
accepting applications for the following full time Sr, Database Specialist.



The Database Specialist maintains specific databases; works with developers
in the development of procedures and triggers; administers databases and
helps troubleshoot and optimize code while in development; supports others
by providing assistance in creating or extracting data from databases. The
Database Specialist assists with maintaining the integrity of databases by
updating records, running quality control reports, and performing bulk
updates; works with other members of the database administration and
development team and also the application development team to develop and
maintain custom applications to support core business systems; provides
reports to various departments requesting information from the database;
provides database technical support; trains and assists staff with database
use, policies and procedures; and works with team members and vendors to
troubleshoot and resolve database issues.



*Position-Specific Duties*


   - ·         Performs testing of all modifications, security
   administration, optimization, capacity planning, and performance tuning
   under supervision.
   - ·         Assists in developing and maintaining all databases, data
   warehouses and business intelligence applications.
   - ·         Assists in development, enhancements and support of database
   applications
   - ·         Assists in development and administration of stored
   procedures, triggers, views and functions.
   - ·         Performs data extraction and import.
   - ·         Assists in data reporting from databases.
   - ·         Interacts with project management group to ensure accurate
   and comprehensive understanding of data and reporting requirements.
   - ·         Provides technical support in the area of database
   development.



*Education, Training, and Other Qualifications*


   - ·         Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer
   science, business administration, or a related field from an accredited
   college or university is preferred.



*Experience Required*


   - ·         Requires minimum three years relevant experience.



*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities*


   - ·         Working technical knowledge in database design,
   administration and development.
   - ·         Knowledge of the PostgreSQL database platform preferred, but
   experience with any modern relation database platform such as Oracle, MS
   SQL Server, or MySQL required.
   - ·         Knowledge of current business intelligence and data
   warehousing technologies.
   - ·         Understanding of database security and knowledge of
   applicable data privacy practices and laws.
   - ·         Strong written and oral communication skills.
   - ·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member
   of a team.
   - ·         Ability to work independently.
   - ·         Ability to analyze problems and determine appropriate
   solutions.
   - ·         Ability to work directly with both internal and external
   resources to ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
   - ·         Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a
   high-pressure environment.
   - ·         Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
   - ·         Strong report writing skills.
   - ·         Ability to train non-technical staff on data entry, reading
   and understanding record information, creating basic reports, queries,
   exports and mailings.
