*Position Description:*

Novetta has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and
accomplished *Database
Administrator* to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be
working on cutting-edge Cyber technologies. As a Database Administrator,
you will work closely with the Development, QA and Services teams to
support business goals and to help ensure Novetta products are released in
a timely manner.



*In this role you will:*

   - Create, Manage and maintain internal development, testing and
   production databases.
   - Install, configure, update and troubleshoot large environments.
   - Collaborate with Systems Engineers and Administrators on technical
   issues.
   - Create a fast, safe system for databases in production.
   - Collaborate with engineers, testers and staff.
   - Automate, backup and secure everything.
   - Rapidly diagnose and fix problems in production.



*Basic Qualifications:*

   - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
   - +5 years relevant experience
   - Knowledge of database systems theory
   - Awareness of current and future trends in the relational database
   industry.



*Desired Skills:*

   - Broad architectural awareness of customer applications, not only
   understanding database aspects (e.g. metrics, db parameters etc.) but also
   with ability to triage issues in an end-to-end manner aware of how web,
   application and caching tiers impact database performance and availability.
   - Experience interacting with resolving database engine and
   system/infrastructure-related issues and providing guidance on systems
   architecture, data model, and SQL query reviews as needed.
   - Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL replication technologies
   including Master-Master multi-replication, Master-Multiple Slave
   replication.
   - MySQL and PostgreSQL administration and support experience including
   backup and recovery, replication, clustering, performance tuning, and
   monitoring.
   - Familiarity managing Application servers for data integration and
   reporting applications.
   - Experience working in a highly segmented network with complex firewall
   implementations and many security features
   - Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database
   engine a must (PL/SQL etc.)
   -  Proven track record mastering manual database-related tasks and
   building automation wherever possible to replace those tasks.
   -  Working knowledge of at least one compiled language a plus (Java, C,
   C++ )
   - Experience with Open Source and Big Data databases (relational and
   non-relational) MongoDB, CouchDB, HBase, Cassandra, etc
   - Experience setting-up and managing Amazon EC2 Cloud Infrastructure
   (including GovCloud configuration)
   - Experience with documentation of standard procedures, architecture,
   design and deployments
   - Release management and deployment of code in different environments
   using source code control tools such as GitHub.
   -  Has experience in the Agile Methodology.
