The Software The software is a spatiotemporal, real-time, subterranean and above surface= tracking solution for materials, equipment and personnel. Basically, an op= erational digital twin of any operation. We are also developing a highly ad= vanced dynamic physics engine to calculate the effect of events such as bla= sting, digging, dozing and stockpiling with regards to material behaviour a= pplying fluid dynamics research (amongst others) from the CSIRO (guys who i= nvented WIFI amongst other things). The software is all cloud native, networked storage, horizontally paralleli= sable, dealing with significant amounts of data and large data files rapidl= y. Not only is it a game changer for industry in terms of lowering costs o= f production but has an added benefit of ensuring the minimal environmental= impact is achieved per unit produced. The Role We partition our data over a number of databases, so we are able to scale b= y adding more PostgreSQL servers to our environment. However, from a cost p= erspective, we seek to maximise the performance out of each instance indepe= ndently. By doing so, we reduce the number of PostgreSQL servers we need, a= nd therefore the costs. We need a top-level innovator with expertise in optimizing performance of P= ostgreSQL, in terms of designing and building the table structures, indexes= , partitions, query/DML statement design, etc. You will be a problem solver= and a team player =96 working with other developers to ensure (where appli= cable to PostgreSQL performance) that your code, tables, etc. are designed = and implemented optimally. You will be an expert in engineering high performance, high concurrency, hi= gh contention databases, with knowledge of database locking mechanisms, dat= abase performance analysis, and the resolution of database performance issu= es. Ideally you will have experience with high volume/concurrency relationa= l databases (ideally with PostgreSQL). It is essential to have experience dealing with large data volumes, highly = concurrent inserts/updates, be very familiar with database locking/isolatio= n techniques, database performance analysis (e.g. familiar with query execu= tion plans) and database performance issue/bottleneck identification and re= solution. In particular, you need to have deep experience with NHibernate (= ideally on top of PostgreSQL) in high performance, high concurrency and hig= h contention database environments. We need you to be the expert within our company. This is a critical role a= nd your remuneration will reflect this.
