dbproc parameter length cutting problem

Hell all

We've got a problem: there is a dbproc with input parameter fo
r example varchar(10). Using jdbc we call it with a value of
varchar(20) and there is an error 8004 complaining about constant
length and type. Is it true that we have to check the length of
parameteres sending to dbproc in our application or there is another
workaround?
