Not so ancient. Oracle only got ANSI join syntax in 9i. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks, I appreciate it. I am familiar with outer joins but not using the ancient syntax. Thus far I have not come across this syntax in the SQL Ref on sapdb's site so I thought I should ask so I knew what I was looking at. The (+) represents the side of a join that is outer joined in old-style (pre SQL-92 IIRC) join syntax. If you're not familiar with outer joins there are plenty of SQL resources on the web that will explain them.
