I don't know what LD_ASSUME_KERNEL does, but i guess it's an issue with 
the NPTL (Native Posix Thread Library) that's included with RedHat9.

The NPTL is not 100% compatible to the old Linux-Threads, so 
SAPDB-kernel might crash because of some strange behaviour of the 
Thread-API.
