Hello Andreas,

don't use a backup medium whose name is starting with BACK, if you don't use Backint for SAP DB or Backint for Oracle.

Subject: Restoring a db-instance under win 2k from a backup made under
win nt 4.0

Hi,

i´ve got a problem with my complete data backup. I made it round about one month ago and now i wanted to restore the database again. For the backup i used sapdb version 7.4.3.25 and the dbmgui and win nt 4.0 sp6a. The machine, where the database should be restored is a win 2k machine with sap db 7.4.3.27. I installed a new db-instance for restoring from a backupmedium and this works fine. But when i restore the db i get the error: "external backup oll not found [back_ext_ids_get backup01]; The file c:\programme\sapdb\indep_data\KNL_SAMM\bsi.env is missing or unreadable". But i do never use an external backuptool, i always use the dbmgui.

So can anyone tell me, what goes wrong?? What kind of file ist the bsi.env??

Greeting and thanks in advantage,
Andreas
