Uninstall leaving database behind

Hi,

As part of our upgrade path, users have to uninstall everything and
reinstall.

We obviously don't want the db to be deleted - is there a way to uninstall
and leave the database in place, and then when we reinstall SAP will
automatically pickup the database?
