1. Follow the instructions at
http://sapdb.2scale.net/moin.cgi/PortBuildTools. I suggest that you set
$OS to WIN32 and $OSSPEC to CYGWIN
2. Search sys/src/tt/toolvas-tpl.pl.tt for WIN32 and decide whether the
predicate should really be for $OS or for $OSSPEC.
3. I'll ask our tools guru whether he allows the usage of a CC variable
(or CCFAMILY variable for CC, CXX, linker etc). Setting compiler flags
should really depend on that variable just in case someone wants to port
SAP DB to SUN + gcc.
4. grep sys/src/tt for other appearances of WIN32 to check if they apply
to CYGWIN or not
5. ditto for sys/desc
Once the build tools are working, do the same for the real sources.
I have cygwin installed on my home machine, so I can probably help you
out once you are stuck.
Most evenings (German time), I can be reached via IRC
(irc://irc.freenode.net, #sapdb).
