Should work now, with src/ctlib/unittests/Makefile.am revision 1.27. 
Works for me.  

$ ldd build/src/ctlib/unittests/datafmt 
build/src/ctlib/unittests/datafmt:

         -lc.12 => /usr/lib/libc.so.12
