That message refers specifically to encrypted connections.  Given the 
number of messages we've had about that problem compared to the number
of people who use SQL Server 2005, I'd say not many people use encrypted
connections.  

In general TDS 8.0 is what anyone should use to connect to SQL Server 200[58].
