Your suggestion to reconfigure with a higher version of the TDS protocol worked.
I was using version 4.2.  I reconfigured using --with-tdsver=7.0 and my long
SQL statements are now working ok.

I'm not aware of any internal limitation.  Could you post a TDSDUMP log of
the session?
