Connection timing out to valid server

Hi all,

I have setup freetds on Ubuntu 8.04 server according to this guide:

I have the following entry in my freetds.conf:

[haltkoer]
        host = xxx
        port = 1433
        tds version = 8.0


I try to run sqsh as so:

sqsh -S haltkoer -U xxx -P xxx

but eventually receive

src/tds/login.c: tds_connect: xxx:1433: Connection timed out

Even though:

-I can ping the server
-doing a tcpdump I see the relevant connection attempts

Any ideas?
