How to get FreeTDS to work with Microsoft SQL 2000 with encryption from Linux...

I am new to the list and simply have not been able to find an answer to
this issue:

 

I need to connect from a CentOS box to a Microsoft SQL 2000 server using
FreeTDS 0.82

I have tried the a DSN based connection so that I can enable the
encryption feature, but still get the invalid login response.

 

The ini values that I am trying to use are:

tds version = 8.0

encryption = required

 

I have tried looking for more information but this appears to be the way
that the configuration should work.

I must be overlooking something.
