FreeTDS 0.82 returning ODBC v2 values instead of ODBC v3 values

I'm still trying to get FreeTDS to work with Oracle 11.2 DG4ODBC.  As
near as I can tell, FreeTDS is returning the data type codes for ODBCv2
instead of ODBCv3.  Specifically, datetime columns return as a type 11
instead of a type 93.  I checked the log from the make of FreeTDS and
checked odbc_config -longodbcversion which returns 3.52.  What would
make FreeTDS return ODBCv2 formatted data?
