Awfully sorry, I had absolutely no idea that you do, and found the
easysoft link as first hit in google. Now, having checked that I have
ls -l /usr/lib/libtds*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 593239 Sep 21  2009 /usr/lib/libtds-0.82.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     19 Jan 22 16:59 /usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so ->
libtdsodbc.so.0.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     19 Jan 22 16:59 /usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so.0 ->
libtdsodbc.so.0.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 886474 Sep 21  2009 /usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so.0.0.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   2950 Jan  7  2007 /usr/lib/libtdsS.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     14 Jan 22 16:59 /usr/lib/libtds.so -> libtds-0.82.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     16 Jun 17 15:06 /usr/lib/libtdsS.so ->
libtdsS.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     16 Jan 22 16:59 /usr/lib/libtdsS.so.1 ->
libtdsS.so.1.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root   4308 Jan  7  2007 /usr/lib/libtdsS.so.1.0.0

I try the first test mentioned in troubleshooting, and:

osql -S server -U user -P pass
osql: error: no potential directory strings in "/usr/bin/isql"
isql strings are:
+ /lib/ld-linux.so.2
+ /lib/ld-linux.so.2
