Using freetds 64 bit linux with data direct driver manager?

Hello freetds gurus. I am against the wall trying to use freetds with the commercial odbc driver manager from data direct which came with teradata drivers. 

I took on compiling freetds with the supplied headers and was able to get a library compiled.  I did set -with-unixodbc=/location of driver manager from datadirect and defined -DODBC64.
I did notice however few differences in the produced configure.log. one of which was SQL_WCHAR=1 instead of 2 when compiling with unixodbc. What are the repercussions of that?

Finally have you guys been able to get freetds working properly with unixodbc2.3.0? Where can one get the latest and greatest freetds after 0.82. I noticed that freetds.org is no longer accessible.
