My mind is mush working on this issue. Did you provide this patch as a followup to the work I was doing here <https://gist.github.com/913533> when I started this?

If so, I'll go back down that route as an alternative to the other two solutions. The first is finding the bug where Windows is not able to pickup on TDSHOST and TDSPORT env vars, almost to a solution on that one. The second is fixing the "port override syntax" which is not working anywhere. I have no idea where to even look  for that code, pointers would be helpful if the other options do not pan out.
