Thanks for the background; I see not having shared object libraries  
could be my trouble, so I'm looking at how to compile and link just  
the src/odbc code into the libtdsodbc dll. I don't see the source for  
libtdsodbc though, which makes me think this isn't possible, or my  
understanding of the problem is incorrect.

Perhaps, my whole approach is wrong.

I've set out to build openLDAP with back-sql support (requiring odbc  
to connect to a MS-SQL server) in a cygwin env, because I've done this  
in an ubuntu env with relatively little pain, and running openLDAP on  
a windows server is our preferred platform.

Has anyone done this before?
