Unexpected EOF from the server

So I'm trying to connect to an SQL Server (I believe it's 2005).
It's controlled by another party, so I dont' know details.

I am able to connect with applications such as Navicat for SQL Server.
But in the terminal I keep getting 
error messages like this:

tsql -H... -U...

It gives the same error regardless of the correct password or not.

I installed FreeTDS on OS X 10.6 with mac ports:
sudo port install freetds +mssql +openssl +universal
