unixodbc and character identifier limits?

Hello,

 While using sqlalchemy and pyodbc, I came across a 30 character
 identifier limit. In results I wasn't able to query my records unless
I have changed the identifier name to something under 30 char. Would
you guys know if this is something in freetds that limits me to 30? Is
there a settting for it?
